Atelier Lyrique de Dordogne
Intensive training and French repertoire immersion for singers, in the beautiful historic region of Dordogne, France.
19 July - 26 July, 2025
The Atelier is designed for singers looking to spend an intensive week, narrowing in on specific vocal, musical and linguistic goals, and to have their most important questions answered, thoroughly.
The program is intimate - just 7 participants and 4 faculty will work together, in a beautiful villa, located in the middle of the Dordogne wine region. The teachers don’t just drop in for a "showy" masterclass, but rather for intensive work and mentoring throughout the entire week. They want you to succeed and will help you try new repertoire, new techniques, conquer your fears related to singing in the French language and help you become the singer you want to be.
The schedule consists of private voice lessons and repertoire coaching, group workshops, French diction coaching, French language classes, yoga and mindfulness. For those who still have energy left, there will be immersive cultural activities in the region.
The week will culminate in a public soirée and also a day dedicated to making professional video recordings, for any singers interested in producing high quality, artistically polished materials for applications, competitions, self-promotion, etc.
It is difficult to put into words just how phenomenal of a vocal instructor Chelsea is! Her expert knowledge of singing technique paired with her ability as a communicator creates the perfect environment of safety and support in which to thrive and take your voice to the next level. I cannot recommend her highly enough!

Our Teaching
Philosophy
As educators who also maintain active international careers, we are dedicated to developing the next generation of singers by equipping them with the technical foundation, up-to-date industry information, self-awareness, and autonomy needed for a lasting career. Our goal is to guide singers toward a career marked by vocal health, artistic integrity, and authentic expression. Our teaching integrates historical vocal traditions with modern physiological and psychological insights, ensuring a comprehensive and adaptable approach tailored to each singer’s needs.
A solid technique—rooted in breath management, healthy resonance, and command of language—is essential for sustainable vocal artistry. Continuing in the footsteps of our own pedagogical mentors including Richard Miller and Diana Soviero, we strive to maintain the Manuel García traditions in a modern world. Our goal is not just to teach students how to sing, but to empower them to understand their own voices, so they can continue refining their craft beyond the studio.
We believe that vocal freedom comes from unlocking the body’s natural mechanisms rather than imposing rigid technical constructs. This requires a holistic, solutions-based approach that prioritizes efficiency, longevity, and artistic expression. We encourage critical thinking and self-analysis, so singers can navigate the challenges of a professional career with confidence.
Beyond technique, we foster an environment of artistic curiosity and exploration. A singer’s life experience, intellectual depth, and aesthetic awareness shape their artistry. We challenge students to engage with the world, broaden their perspectives, and develop their own artistic voices.
Singing is a demanding profession, requiring resilience, discipline, and adaptability. Having overcome personal challenges in our own careers, we bring a compassionate and practical approach to teaching. We ensure that students receive not only technical rigor but also the mindfulness work necessary to be in a healthy place to pursue this stressful, risky, unpredictable and challenging career.
Our ultimate goal is to guide singers toward a career marked by vocal health, artistic integrity, and authentic self-expression. By providing them with the tools, knowledge, and inspiration to master their own instruments, we prepare them to take their place as compelling, technically assured, and artistically compelling performers in the classical music world.
